Welcome to SecureStart — Quick start guide to secure your digital assets

Follow our easy step-by-step onboarding to initialize your hardware wallet, create backups, and learn essential security practices. Designed for beginners and pros alike — fast, clear, and safe.

Getting started — 3 simple steps

1

Unbox and inspect

Open your SecureStart device and check the tamper seal. Only use a device and packaging you recognize.

2

Initialize and set PIN

Follow the on-device prompts to create a secure PIN. Never share this PIN or enter it on a computer for others.

3

Backup your recovery phrase

Write down your recovery words on the supplied card or a safe metal backup. Store it offline in a secure place.

Private keys stay offline

All signing happens inside your device. Your private keys never leave the hardware — protecting you from malware or phishing on your computer.

Multicurrency support

Use one device to manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and hundreds of tokens. Seamless integration with popular wallet apps and exchanges.

Pin & passphrase security

Set a secure PIN and an optional passphrase for an extra layer of account segregation and protection.

Durable backup options

Use included recovery cards or optional metal backups to survive fire, water, or hardware loss — long-term safety for your seed phrase.

Open standards

Compliant with industry standards and open protocols so you keep choices—no vendor lock-in.

24/7 support & guides

Clear setup instructions, step-by-step troubleshooting, and friendly support to guide you through every stage.

Detailed setup — step by step

  1. Power on & choose language: Use the side button to power the device. Select your language from the on-screen menu.
  2. Create a new wallet: Choose "Create new" on-device. The device will generate a recovery phrase — keep it private.
  3. Choose a PIN: Pick a 6–8 digit PIN that you can remember. Avoid trivial numbers and never share it.
  4. Write down your recovery phrase: Carefully write each word in order. Verify the phrase on-device when prompted.
  5. Test with a small amount: Send a small test transaction first to learn the flow before moving larger amounts.
Security tip: Never store your recovery phrase in a photo, email, or cloud storage. The safest backups are offline physical copies or certified metal backups.

Common onboarding checks

  • Confirm your device serial number matches the box.
  • Only enter your recovery phrase on the device — not a website or computer.
  • Keep firmware updated — apply updates from the official app on a secure computer.
  • Enable optional passphrase for account separation (advanced users).

After setup

Connect to the desktop or mobile companion app to manage accounts, install currency apps, and sign transactions. Always verify the transaction details shown on the device screen — the device display is the single source of truth for approvals.

Security practices you can trust

Security is a layered process. SecureStart helps you reduce risk with hardware isolation, reproducible backups, and education. Below are practical practices we recommend for anyone protecting digital value.

Keep backups offline

Multiple geographically separated backups reduce single-point-of-failure. Consider a metal backup for long-term durability.

Verify firmware only from official channels

Check the companion app and official website for signed firmware updates. If an update prompt looks suspicious, contact support.

Frequently asked questions

Use your recovery phrase (seed words) with a compatible wallet to restore access. Keep at least one secure offline copy and never enter seed words on a website or mobile photo.

Yes. SecureStart supports multi-currency management. Install and manage currency apps via the companion app; the device signs transactions for each supported chain.

Most hardware wallets use standard recovery phrase formats (BIP39/BIP44). Consult the documentation before restoring to ensure compatibility and correct derivation paths.

Never share your seed words with anyone. No legitimate support agent will ask for them. If you disclosed your seed, move funds immediately using a new wallet and device after creating a secure backup.

Update firmware only via the companion app downloaded from official sources. Verify release notes and digital signatures when provided. If in doubt, contact official support before updating.
